The Cantillon Institute

Continuing our strong finish to 2015, InSite Commercial Interiors recently handed over The Cantillon Institute in Perth and Melbourne.

The Cantillon Institute is an award winning vocational training institute that has been in operation since 2008.

Being a National Education provider, it was imperative our team interpreted Cantillon’s requirements in order to reflect their culture and brand across both projects.

Perth

The Cantillon Institute Perth operates across 2 floors on Victoria Avenue in the Perth CBD.

InSite initially provided design services for 550sqm across the Ground Floor. The design included a generous reception and an adjoining student collaboration zone. This student zone is filled with soft seating, creating an interactive area for staff, students and visitors.

The layout includes 4 classrooms of which 2 computers labs are separated by an operable wall, forming a flexible space which can be converted into a large training facility. 2 quiet rooms and a 10 person boardroom stem directly off the reception, creating an easy path for new students and staff to conduct meetings and interviews. 4 trainer’s offices and an 8 person support area have been designed for administrative staff.

After completing this design, our role grew to design and construct of the 550sqm space on Level 1 to accommodate Business and Information Technology students, and create a campus which acts as a pathway to other Tertiary Education providers.

Significant upgrades were required to the fire, electrical and mechanical services to comply with a Change of Use and 9B Education Requirements. The completed space includes 2 computer labs and 2 classrooms each equipped with individual student power / data points and AV capabilities providing a modern teaching environment.  The student’s have access to a breakout area located in close proximity to all classrooms.  The space also includes a library – a mandatory requirement for Education providers and finally, individual trainer’s offices.

Cantillon graphics  with their vision and motto, “Make it Happen” – have been applied throughout the fitout to ensure consistence brand presence throughout.

Melbourne

The Melbourne campus presented a slightly different challenge. InSite was tasked with developing an existing design, completing design development, documentation and project managing the fitout in a D&C process.

Significant upgrades were required to the fire, electrical and mechanical services to comply with a Change of Use and 9B Education Requirements. Part of the approval conditions included a new disable toilet facility which involved core hole drilling and extensive hydraulic work.

The Cantillon Institute on 120 Spencer Street, Melbourne is a 750sqm campus with 2 computer labs – each equipped with HDMI and AV capabilities. Additionally, the campus has 4 classroom facilities with 2 on either side separated by an operable wall with an STC38 sound rating.

The administration section of this campus includes a trainer’s area with custom laminate joinery, overhead storage, power and data for each individual. A separate area has been designed and built for 8 support staff – each staff member with their own desk, storage and power/data. A generous waiting area creates a corridor leading into the Cantillon Boardroom. This corridor is finished with Cantillon graphics and the Institute’s corporate colours which ties into perfectly with the vinyl cut Cantillon sign behind the reception counter.

InSite simultaneously managed both projects and ultimately, delivered 2 campuses reflective of Cantillon’s status as one of Australia’s leading Tertiary Education Providers.
