AICD provides insight into Board dynamics
The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) held the last of their “West End Series” briefings for 2010 on Thursday 17th November at Fraser’s Restaurant. With guest speakers including Wayne Zekulich MAICD, Executive Vice President Institutional Banking & Markets WA & SA/NT, Commonwealth Bank Australia, and Bruno Camarri MAICD, Director, LinQ Capital Ltd, the briefing focused on the essential factors needed to ensure an effective Board structure and performance.
The briefing explored the importance of best board practices including board composition, skills sets, diversity, evaluations and board dynamics. A critical element for achieving higher levels of performance for a Board is to adopt a process of rigorous evaluation of their performance and that of their directors. Achieving a healthy board dynamic is is also an area of particular importance.
InSite’s Managing Director, Ron Bullen, is an active Member of the AICD and attended the briefing, and believes organisations like the AICD provide an important resource for Directors in understanding the development and functions of a company Board. The Institute hosts regular briefings, courses and networking events through the year, and provides opportunities for Directors to connect and discuss issues critical to Board performance.
